Working as a terminology specialist for a growing Healthcare IT services and management consulting company which is engaged Canada-wide and internationally, you will be involved in a variety of challenging and exciting initiatives with many opportunities to learn and develop. Travel is required.
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

Strong IT experience with various health care providers, government agencies and vendors (5+ years)

Strong knowledge of and experience working with Health IT systems and requirements analysis (5+ years)

Knowledge and strong understanding of eHealth initiatives in jurisdictions across Canada

Expertise in clinical terminology and/or classification systems (SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10-CA/CCI), and the application of clinical code systems in electronic health record systems (5+ years)

Expertise in and experience working with terminology supporting tools, such as the Infoway Master Terminology Worksheet, pCLOCD, terminology browsers, IHTSDO Workbench, ICD-10-CA/CCI Folio, and terminology implementation guides

Experience with eHealth terminology standards use and management, such as subset development, subset and extension management, use with clinical decision support/knowledge tools, reference terminologies, interface terminologies, clinical classifications, and terminology maps

Experience with Canada Health Infoway (including active membership with the Standards Collaborative, in particular SCWG 9 Terminology Representation & Services) and healthcare systems both in Ontario and other jurisdictions

Experience with terminology standards development organizations, such as IHTSDO, Regenstrief, HL7, etc.

Experience with maintenance of terminology standards across multiple health domains (chronic disease, diagnostic imaging, laboratory) and across multiple stakeholder groups (physicians, nurses, vendors, government, pharmacists

Understanding of terminology asset management approaches, policies, and legislation, specific to direct care and health system use

Excellent communication, writing and documentation skills

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to deliver and balance a number of complex deliverables within tight timeframes

Broad knowledge of clinical concepts and processes and how these are used in the health care system

Professional memberships in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, and/or Standards

Knowledge of HL7 methodology, engagement processes, and the application of HL7 messaging standards (versions 2 and 3), the Reference Information Model (RIM), and HL7 v3 products

Knowledge of DICOM and XDS-I profiles for document sharing content and application for document sharing
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
• Develop terminology solutions from industry standards and client requirements
• Model and/or map clinical terminology to enable adoption of Electronic Health Records
• Develop reusable processes and analytic methodologies that allow for continual efficiency gains
• Communicate effectively with clients and staff in-person or over the phone
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Clinical and/or Informatics degree or equivalent working experience required
• Terminology development or mapping experience is strongly preferred
• Experience implementing or administering clinical information systems and/or performing standards based system integration
• Familiarity with HL7 messaging standards, Clinical Document Architecture (CDA), XML and/or the Canadian EHR Blueprint is a plus
